KDDI to Release Group Chatting Service for Handset Users in Late 2005
September 29, 2005
Japanese KDDI is planning to roll out a group chatting service for handset users in late 2005, allowing up to five people to chat and share files and pictures with each other at the same time. KDDI will release several handsets with this function in late 2005 and offer the service on all its models in early 2006. The group chatting service is provided through "push-to-talk" technology that allows one member of the group to talk by pressing one button and other users to listen simultaneously. Once the speaker finishes talking, another member can carry on the conversation by pressing the talk button.
